Fireworks

Tonight was Ellsworth's annual fireworks display. To avoid the traffic we've avoided going to the fairgrounds the past two years and instead drove up a hill on the outskirts of town where we get a pretty good view. We're not going to show that view to you, but we will show you what David and Analeigh's reaction to the view was while they sat on top of our minivan in their pajamas.

Happy Birthday Cailainn!

Yes, we know it is Father's Day too, but when one of the reasons that you are a father is celebrating her birthday on the same day, Father's Day gets trumped.

Cailainn got a bunch of baby doll clothes and a backpack/baby carrier to use with her favorite baby doll.

UPDATE 6/19/13: Cailainn also got three new dress-up dresses from her grandma. She loves them too!

Oh, about Father's Day, Ben got Season Three and Season Four of Star Wars: The Clone Wars on DVD.

Swimming Lessons

David and Analeigh had swimming lessons all this week. They both loved it and wanted to go back every evening to try the new skills they had been learning. It has been another fun week for us.

Snails

Liz went to Manhattan, Kansas today for church as she is in the Stake Relief Society Presidency. To help Ben out, she takes Cailainn on all of her trips so that he only has two children to wrangle throughout sacrament meeting.

When they arrived in Manhattan and Liz was taking Cailainn out of her seat, Cailainn kept pointing at something excitedly. Eventually Liz realized what was causing all of the commotion - snails!

Vacation Bible School

The kids all went to Vacation Bible School this week. Liz helped out as a volunteer in David's class.

David got to play the character of King David on the first day, which he thought was pretty cool. However, he reports that his favorite part of each day was snack time.

Cailainn did very well staying in the nursery class with a bunch of strangers. The leaders always reported to Liz how well behaved she was. Nevertheless, she loved coming home to get her drink of milk each day.

Analeigh probably loved Vacation Bible School most of all. She would come home singing all the songs and having the dances memorized as well.

Free Time in School

When David had finished his school work in class, he would frequently turn his worksheet over and draw pictures on the other side. Usually, these pictures were about his love of Star Wars. We thought it would be nice to share a sample of his artwork.

Here is Yoda (the brown circle is his cape) fighting the clone army in the first episode of season one of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Here is a scene from Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, which David has not seen, since it is rated PG-13. However, for a letter "W" themed show-and-tell, David had wanted to bring a Wookie. So Ben printed off this picture of a scene from the movie for David to bring to class. He later drew his own version.

Here is a Trade Federation Battleship, which is equipped with Vulture Droids, hence David's mislabeling of it as a "Vulture Battleship."
