Wood Badge

Ben came back today from his last day of Wood Badge at Camp Kanza, near Hutchinson, KS. The Boy Scout council for our area came up with a non-Sunday course for a normally 6-day program, such that Ben attended two weekends (Thursday-Saturday). Thus, Liz had to deal with 2 children on her own from August 7-9 and 28-30. She won't admit it, but she really is an amazing mother. Ben came back rather smelly and with facial hair that would put the BYU Honor Code to shame. We don't have any pictures to share, because Liz made Ben shower and shave immediately upon walking through the door. Alas, we hope that the Wikipedia Wood Badge link above will help explain Ben's experience.

Analeigh Under Her Tree

One of the things Analeigh loves best is to spend time under a tree we have in our front yard. Something about the way the breeze blows the branches and leaves makes her downright giddy. We thought you might enjoy a video of her excitement, along with Liz's commentary.

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream!

Today David ate his first ice cream cone. This isn't to say that we are mean parents who have never given him the opportunity before... only that today was the first time he was able to accomplish the task. All told, he ended up much cleaner than we thought he would. On the other hand, some of our furniture did not.

Dinner at the Draper's

Since Analeigh began eating solid food, it has been fun to eat dinner together as a family, with everyone at essentially the same eye level. However, there are times when David's etiquette leaves something to be desired. And there are also nights when Analeigh seems to prefer the bottle to the spoon. Then there are dinner times when it ends like this...

Dance, Dance - Kind of

Liz turned on some music by Sting today. David enjoyed it and began to dance. Since we had seen another family's blog show off their dancing children, we decided that it might be fun to record and share. David cooperated at first, but then... well, you'll see.

Analeigh Is Eating Solid Food

Analeigh tried eating solid food for the very first time today (aside from rolling over and trying to chew on our carpet). Overall, she did quite well, as you will be able to see if you choose to watch the video. To be quite honest though, this is the sort of video that only a parent gets excited about. Since there is no projectile spit up coming back from Analeigh, you pretty much have to listen to Ben's commentary. Depending on your feelings toward Ben, you may enjoy the video, or you may not. You still have the option to mute the video and just bask in the enjoyment of watching two very cute children. Alas, if you don't feel that you would enjoy the video, we've included pictures for you to look at instead. Enjoy!
